The prison was transferred for the colonial government in 1886 for use for domestically sentenced prisoners. Pursuing a Royal Commission held in 1898−ninety nine, some improvements had been created to Fremantle Prison, together with knocking down the inner wall involving two cells, introducing a prisoner classification process, and setting up int
